Development and Responsibility For Many Generations
In his presentation, Tapio Pajuharju went through Harvia’s story from a traditional stove manufacturer to a global provider of comprehensive sauna & spa experiences. Continuous development has been part of Harvia from the beginning, and a good example of this is the various solutions boldly brought to the stoves and the first remote-controlled stove launched in 2005, which was ahead of its time and did not yet take the wind under it at that time. However, times have changed and in connection with the remote use of the sauna, Harvia is launching the MyHarvia package in 2021, which will enable safe remote use of the sauna. The MyHarvia package costs less than 1000 euros and is suitable for most households.
Part of the development has also been responsibility, which has been taken into account in Harvia’s everyday life. The products use responsibly manufactured steel and recycling is taken into account in the packaging materials, in addition to which the solar panel system on the roof of the Harvia plant produces solar energy for the plant’s use.

Sauna as a Part of Happiness and Health
Hans Hägglund said that saunaing has an effect on people’s happiness, which, according to him, is also reflected in the fact that Finland was chosen as a happier country in 2020, for the third time in a row. Sauna and good lifestyle also have a big impact on health. Taking a sauna 4-6 times a week reduces cardiovascular disease by up to 50%, which contributes to huge savings in the treatment of diseases.
The sauna has been used to promote health and treat disease for centuries. The sauna was once called the pharmacy of the poor, where sweating was used to prevent or treat diseases. The body and brain react to heat in many ways and heat acts as a therapy for the whole body. The heat releases hormones that, among other things, produce pleasure and reduce pain, as well as boost the immune system. Saunaing can be compared to sports performance – it raises your heart rate and produces pleasure in the same way.
Sauna and Mind
Katri Saarikivi talked about stress and its effects on the body and how stress and well-being can be improved through sauna. According to Saarikivi, sociality improves our well-being and increases happiness. Sauna and sauna-making have a positive effect on the human mind and immediately make many feel good and uplift. An early study in Finland has shown that taking a sauna reduces anxiety and improves the ability to concentrate. Saunaing has also been considered as a treatment in a study in Japan where people with mild depression were taken to a sauna and the study found that taking a sauna had positive effects on mood. See in the recording more how the sauna and the human mind harmonize.

Mentalist and magician Jose Ahonen’s performance took the audience to the magic of Mervi and Tapio, who acted as assistants. Jose’s tricks got the minds of both spectators and helpers into a knot that can’t even be opened with a sauna. Take a closer look at the record for what kind of whims it was.
